(Mitchell, SD) — The James Valley Drug and DUI Court was awarded a $1,500 grant from Central Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round-Up® program. The funds will be used to assist program participants with housing, utility deposits and other items needed to move forward with their lives.
“This is such a great cause,” said Tara Miller, manager of communications and Operation Round-Up coordinator at Central Electric. “The James Valley Drug and DUI Court helps members of the community get back on track when they need it most.”
First Circuit Drug and DUI Court coordinator Nicole Peterson explained that parameters are being established and they will soon have a process in place for program participants to request financial assistance for housing, utility deposits and other necessary expenses.
Dakota Counseling Institute of Mitchell applied for the grant on behalf of the James Valley Drug and DUI Court.
Operation Round-Up is a voluntary program in which Central Electric members’ bills are rounded to the next whole dollar. The extra cents collected flow into a charitable fund to make a direct impact in the communities of Central Electric members.
The next grant application deadline is Nov. 1. For more information about the Operation Round-Up program, please contact Central Electric Cooperative at 1-800-477-2892 or visit http://www.centralec.coop.
