SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell Kernels rebounded from a loss on day one of state to defeat Yankton 66-56 on Friday in consolation. Mitchell led 56-36 at the end of three quarters before Yankton started the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run. The Bucks closed the game to within nine points but could not get any closer.
Caden Hinker had a team-high 18 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and one block. Steele Morgan and Dylan Soulek both finished with 17 points.
Rugby Ryken led Yankton with a game-high 25 points.
Mitchell commanded the boards again on Friday, outrebounding Yankton 38-16.
