The U.S. Economic Development Administration is awarding a $1 million grant to help with improvements at Lake Mitchell, specifically to fund a $1.9 million jetty and public boat dock project along the lake’s west side. The city will match the grant with nearly $940,000 in funds. 20 jobs are expected to be created. The U.S. Secretary of Commerce said in a press release that the project will “boost tourism and outdoor recreation in Mitchell and attract visitors to existing tourist attractions.” The grant is funded by the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan.
