Avon — The Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Phoenix defeated the Avon Pirates 34-22 on Friday, Sept. 2 — and Maddox Kihne was named Sun Gold Sports Player of the Game. Kihne finished with seven carries for 89 yards and a rushing touchdown. He also had three receptions for 52 yards and another touchdown. Kihne had two interceptions defensively and got a third touchdown on a pick six.
