The Mitchell City Council approved a medical marijuana dispensary application on Monday night. Genesis Farms LLC had originally applied to open at the corner of 5th and Main in downtown Mitchell. They will now be located on North Rowley Street in the building that formerly housed the OverTime restaurant. There is a mix of residences and businesses in the area.

Emmett Reistroffer of Genesis Farms addressed the council regarding concerns from neighbors.  “I think it’s important for those neighbors to know that the way we designed the dispensary is that the signage, the entrance, the exit, and the parking is all on the other side of the building, furthest away from the closest homes,” he said during last night’s meeting.  “From the front door, you really just see all businesses.”  Reistroffer added that the building will look “like a dentist’s office.”

Three other medical marijuana dispensaries have been approved in Mitchell; however, none of them have opened.
