MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council will receive an update regarding the Firesteel watershed at tonight’s meeting, which is scheduled for 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell. The watershed is a key element in tackling Lake Mitchell’s algae problem, with Mitchell voters deciding on another element, dredging the lake for 25 million dollars, in June. The city has purchased 35 acres in the vast watershed to help reduce phosphorus and sediment flowing into the lake. This evening’s Mitchell City Council meeting is open to the public. It is also televised locally and streamed on the city’s YouTube page. The agenda can be found here: https://mitchellsd.portal.civicclerk.com/event/1231/files/agenda/3104.
