MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW)  Mitchell City Councilman Marty Barington has turned in a petition to run for re-election to his Ward 3 seat this June.  Barington, along with Ward 4’s Jeff Smith, has served on the city council since 2006.  Smith has also turned in a petition to run for re-election and will face challenger Don Everson.  Barington does not have an opponent.  In Ward 2, Kevin McCardle is running for re-election.  Sarah Deakins has turned in a petition to run in Ward 1.  Both are running unopposed thus far.  Incumbent Mayor Bob Everson faces two challengers – Terry Sabers and Jordan Hanson.  Petitions can be taken out at the City Finance Office at City Hall in downtown Mitchell.
