MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Shaun Davis has turned in a petition to run for Mitchell City Council in Ward 2, taking on incumbent Kevin McCardle. There are now two contested city council races in the June city/school board election.
Sarah Deakins is running unopposed thus far in Ward 1. Incumbent Marty Barington does not have a challenger in the Ward 3 race. In Ward 4, incumbent Jeff Smith faces challenger Don Everson.
In Mitchell’s mayoral race, Mayor Bob Everson faces challengers Jordan Hanson and Terry Sabers.
Also on the ballot is a Mitchell School Board race where two seats are up for election. The incumbents, Brittni Flood and Shawn Ruml, are running for re-election. No one else has turned in a petition to run for Mitchell School Board.
Petitions for city and school board positions are due by 5 PM on Monday, March 25th.
