Mitchell Kernels
The cross country athletes will get back to it this afternoon. They’ll be traveling to run in the Watoma Cross Country Invite at 2pm. Scheduled to be competing against Watertown at the Watertown Municipal Cattail Golf Course.
Kernel volleyball has a chance to get back in the win column today when they face Sioux Falls Roosevelt. All Kernel volleyball teams will play again tomorrow. With the JV beginning at 4:30pm, followed by the Sophomores at 5:30pm and finally with the varsity at 7pm.
Both soccer teams are set to play today. The boys varsity will go on the road to take on James Valley Christian at 3pm and the girls varsity will remain home to face West Central at 4pm. Boys JV will play at 5pm after varsity and girls JV will play here after the varsity girls. All games being played at Joe Quintal Field.
The varsity gets back on the field tomorrow as they return home to Mitchell. In search of win number two as they get back to their home field to take on Aberdeen Central. Pregame with Drew Ivery will begin at 6:40pm and kickoff will be at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
Will have both teams competing on Saturday after a well-deserved week off. Soccer action for the girls will be at 3pm at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex taking on Concordia and the men will follow at 5:30pm.
Tiger volleyball will be back at home tonight. The theme will be “Parent Night” in the Christen Family Athletic Center. DWU has struggled as of late, only winning one of their last four matchups. The Tigers will be in action again and they will face the Midland Warriors at 7:30pm.
WNBA
Playoffs pick back up again for the WNBA tomorrow. It will be the No. 3 seed Connecticut Sun and No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx who kick things off for the night this time with the series currently tied 1-1 and now moving to Connecticut for Game 3. The game will begin at 6:30pm. Followed by the No. 1 seed New York Liberty vs the No. 4 seed Las Vegas Aces. Liberty lead the series 2-0 so far and need one more win to sweep and secure a spot back in the WNBA Finals for the sixth time in franchise history. Action begins at 8:30pm with both games on ESPN2.
MLB
Playoffs in the MLB continued last night and everything was a first round sweep aside from one game. It started again with the No. 6 seed Detroit Tigers vs the No. 3 seed Houston Astros. Tigers end up sweeping the Astros, 5-2. The next game was the No. 5 seed Kansas City Royals vs the No. 4 seed Baltimore Orioles. Another game between these two where few runs were scored. Royals win it, 2-1. Third game of the night was the No. 6 seed New York Mets vs the No. 3 seed Milwaukee Brewers. This is the matchup that will see a third game. The Brewers rallied late to beat the Mets, 5-3 and force a Game 3. The last game was the No. 5 seed Atlanta Braves vs the No. 4 seed San Diego Padres. The Padres barely edged out the Braves for the win, 5-4.
