Mitchell Kernels

The volleyball team battled last night in Sioux Falls against Sioux Falls Jefferson. They were facing strong competition and failed to come out on top. Being swept in straight sets, 3-0.

The cross country teams are set to return to action tomorrow to run a Varsity Invitational. It will take place in Huron at Huron Broadland Creek Golf Course beginning at 4pm.

Football will get set for action tomorrow and Friday. With the Freshman competing tonight at Joe Quintal Field against Tea Area at 4:15pm. The varsity will get to travel to Huron to battle for a chance to keep those playoff hopes alive. The pregame will begin at 6:40pm and kickoff at 7pm.

Dakota Wesleyan

We have the final results from the men’s golf competition at the Whistling Straights Classic at Taylor University and the women’s golf results as well from the Battle of the Dance at Hastings College. For the men, they ended up finishing 10th of 13 total teams competing. Individually, the Tigers had a trio of players in the Top 40 of competitors. Connor Calahan led the way finishing 25 over par and tied for 31st. Drew Norberg was next with 26 over par and tied for 35th. Followed by Dakota Munger with 27 over par and in 39th place. For the women, they ended up finishing in second place as a team. Individually, they were paced by Allison Meyerink in first place with a score of 12 over par. Followed by Ashton Austreim with 22 over par and tied for 10th. Finally, Sara Sudenga and Kaylee Johnson both finished 25 over par and tied for 15th.

Volleyball took on the (RV) Valley City State Vikings here last night in Mitchell in a non-conference game. The Tigers had an impressive showing. They swept the Vikings in straight sets, 3-0. Next, they’ll compete again on Saturday at 5pm against the College of Saint Mary (NE) in Mitchell.

MLB

The American League Championship series continued last night. It was Game 2 between the No. 2 seed Cleveland Guardians and No. 1 seed New York Yankees and the Yankees asserted themselves with another win to take a 2-0 series lead. New York took down Cleveland, 6-3. They’ll continue with Game 3 tomorrow afternoon at 4:08pm on TBS/TruTV. For tonight, it’ll be Game 3 between the No. 6 seed New York Mets and the No. 1 seed Los Angeles Dodgers. That game will begin at 7:08pm on FS1.

WNBA

More WNBA Finals action is set to be played tonight as the series moves to Minnesota for a crucial Game 3. The No. 1 seed New York Liberty and No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx are tied up 1-1 through the first two. The game will begin at 7pm tonight on ESPN.

NFL

Tomorrow, Thursday Night Football returns. On Prime Video, it’ll be a matchup between the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints. The game begins at 7:15pm.
