Mitchell Kernels

Kernel volleyball will have all their teams playing tomorrow when they host the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles. It’ll start with the JV at 4:30pm, then the sophomores will play at 5:30pm and conclude with the varsity at 7pm at the Mitchell High School Main Gym.

Dakota Wesleyan

The Tiger soccer teams will be home in Mitchell for the final time this season. They will be playing on Wednesday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex against Briar Cliff (IA). It will be a doubleheader with the women kicking things off at 3pm and then the men will follow and play at 5:30pm.

Volleyball will remain at home for their next game, which will be held on Wednesday night in the Christen Family Athletic Center. They’ll look for their first three-game win streak since August 31st. They will host the Waldorf Warriors in Mitchell at 7:30pm.

NBA

The NBA makes its return tomorrow with a doubleheader on the schedule. It will be the defending 2024 NBA Champion Boston Celtics hosting the New York Knicks at 6:30pm. Followed by the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road to face the Los Angeles Lakers at 9pm. Both games will be on TNT.

MLB

It was Game 6 last night between the No. 1 see Los Angeles Dodgers and the No. 6 seed New York Mets. Powered by a four-run inning in the bottom of the third. The Dodgers take the series in six games with a 10-5 win. They make their way back to the World Series for the first time since 2020. Game 1 of the World Series will take place on Friday, Oct 25 on FOX.

WNBA

An epic Game 5 took place last night on ESPN. It even saw overtime. Tied up at 60 all in regulation, it was the No. 1 seed New York Liberty that took control in OT. The No. 2 seed Minnesota Lynx were unable to stop the bleeding. For the first time in franchise history, the Liberty have been crowned the 2024 WNBA Champions. Led by Jonquel Jones with a team-high 17 points. She was also awarded the WNBA Finals MVP as well.
