PIERRE , S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The ballots are counted, and the results are in, the Republicans not only retained control of the State Legislature but they gained seats.  The Republicans will hold 32 of 35 seats in the South Dakota Senate, for a gain of one.  In the South Dakota House the Republicans will have 64 of 70 seats, that’s also a gain of one for the Party.

In District 20, there were no legislative races because all the Republican candidates were unopposed.  Paul Miskimmins moved from the House to the District 20 Senate seat while newcomers Jeff Bathke and Kaley Nolz will be District 20’s new House members.

One recount is possible. That’s in House District 15, where Democrat Eric Muckey of Sioux Falls edged past Republican Joni Tschetter by nine votes for the second seat 4,364 to 4,355.
