Mitchell
The Kernel boys and girls basketball teams are set for action tonight in the World’s Only Corn Palace. They’ll be facing the Huron Tigers. The JV, freshman and sophomore games will start at 3:30 & 4:45pm. Varsity will start with the girls at 6pm and boys after at 7:30pm.
The boys wrestling team is set to compete this evening in Mitchell. They’ll be in the Christen Family Athletic Center to take on the West Central Trojans. Both the JV and varsity will compete. Varsity will be first and start at 5:30pm and JV will begin at 7pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
For DWU track & field, each team competed over the weekend. Each team recorded personal bests. The women had sophomore Dani Deffenbaugh hit a personal best in the 200-meter with a 28.33 time and freshman Ava Ludwig recorded a PR of 10.22 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. On the men’s side, freshman Trevor Sladky hit a PR of 7.47 seconds and freshman Zachary Robinson posted a PR of 5:22 in the mile.
The Tiger men’s wrestling team returns for their first competition in a month tonight. They’ll be here in Mitchell hosting a dual against Briar Cliff in the Christen Family Athletic Center at 7pm. It is also Senior Night as seniors Kaleb Bigelow, Colten Hink, Zach Zitek and Temuijin Natsagdorj will be recognized tonight.
Both Tiger basketball teams head to Sioux City, Iowa tomorrow to take on Morningside. The No. 17 ranked women’s basketball team sits at 11-4 overall and 8-3 in Great Plains Athletic Conference. The men are 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the GPAC. Each team looks to climb the GPAC standings with another win tomorrow night on the road.
NBA
Tonight, in the NBA, they have seven games in the association. Starting with two 6pm games as the Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Indiana Pacers on TNT/TruTV/MAX and the Oklahoma City Thunder are at the Philadelphia 76ers. One lone 6:30pm game as the Phoenix Suns are at the Atlanta Hawks. Then at 7pm its the New Orleans Pelicans at the Chicago Bulls and the Sacramento Kings at the Milwaukee Bucks. Next, it’s the Denver Nuggets at the Dallas Mavericks on TNT/TruTV/MAX at 8:30pm. Finally, it’ll be the Brooklyn Nets at the Portland Trail Blazers at 9pm to end the night.
NFL
NFL Playoffs Wild Card round came to an end last night. As the No. 5 seed Minnesota Vikings faced off against the No. 4 seed Los Angeles Rams. The Vikings had an off night on the wrong night and the higher seeded Rams were able to come away with a 27-9 win and advance to the Divisional Round.
