Mitchell

The Kernel basketball teams were on the road facing the Tea Area Titans last night. The girls kicked things off and allowed the Lady Titans to stay alive in the first half but a strong second half put the Lady Kernels over the top and got them a 59-45 win. Leading the way was Carsyn Weich with a season-high 15 points and Addie Siemsen added 15 as well. The boys had a tougher battle themselves and were in search of their first win over a team that was above .500 overall. This game came down to the wire and some clutch late-game free throws from Marcus Talley who struggled from deep but was very effective in all other aspects. Talley led Mitchell with 17 points in their 53-49 victory.

The Kernel wrestling teams will be in competition this morning. Each team will compete in a varsity tournament on the road in Chamberlain in the Chamberlain Armory and both teams begin at 10am.

Tomorrow the Kernel gymnastics team will be in action. The varsity will compete in an Invitational against Sioux Falls Lincoln at Sioux Falls Lincoln high school. Competition will start at 11am.

The Marlins varsity hockey teams return to the ice tonight as the girls are in action on the road at Watertown beginning at 8:15pm. Both teams play tomorrow as well. The girls will face Watertown again and get started at 3:15pm and the varsity boys play later that night at 8pm against Watertown as well.

Dakota Wesleyan

The women competed in a triangular yesterday and split the dual going 1-1 against the two schools. Against Jamestown, the Tigers only came away with one win and it came from Olivia Smith in the 160lb class. They lost to the Jimmies, 35-10. It was a different story against Morningside though. The Tigers had three wins, two due to no competitors wrestling in the 138 and 160lb classes. The win by fall came from Keera Lacock in the 131lb class and those wins were enough for a 15-10 win over Morningside. Not listed on the online schedule but seen on their social media. The men’s wrestling team will compete today in the Missouri Valley Invite and it is a two-day event so they will compete tomorrow as well. They get started at 11am this morning in Marshall, MO.

The Tiger track & field teams (multi’s only) compete today. They’re on the road competing in the Concordia Classic and they’ll start at 2pm. It is a two-day event, and they’ll continue action tomorrow at Noon with everyone competing.

Next for your Tiger basketball teams is another home game on Sunday afternoon. Each team will host the Doane Tigers in the World’s Only Corn Palace. Games times were adjusted earlier this week, and your No. 15 ranked women will begin at Noon and the men will play at 1:45pm.

NBA

A slow night in the association tonight as only three games are listed to be played tonight with just one on National TV. Starting with two games at 6pm as the Portland Trail Blazers visit the Charlotte Hornets and the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to play the Philadelphia 76ers. The third and final game will be the New Orleans Pelicans at the Memphis Grizzlies on NBATV at 7pm.
