Mitchell
The Kernel basketball retakes the court tomorrow to face Sioux Falls Washington. The boys and girls will be split home and away again with the girls on the road and boys at home. The girls will be on the road with games beginning at 4 & 5:30pm for subvarsity and 7pm for varsity. The boys will begin at those same times for subvarsity and varsity but will be home in the World’s Only Corn Palace.
Marlins varsity hockey teams rounded out their weekend of games yesterday. The boys were playing here in Mitchell against the Watertown Lakers and got themselves a 5-3 win and improved to 10-8 overall. Parker Denne scored two goals, Esten Schlimgen scored two and Lukas Jerke added one goal. The girls competed on Saturday and were unable to get past the Brookings Rangers and fell, 7-1. Mitchell’s lone goal came from Virginia Wyatt. The girls also fall to 10-8 overall.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tigers have just two games left in the regular season, and it begins Wednesday with their final road game. Each team will visit Waldorf in Forest City, IA to face the Warriors. The No. 16 ranked women will begin at 6pm and the men will play at 7:45pm at Denny Jerome Court.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s basketball team is the only group to see action on a weekday this week. They’ll play on Wednesday at home in the First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, SD. The men will host the North Dakota State Bison with tipoff at 7pm.
NBA
The NBA festivities took place over the weekend and the new format was an adjustment. In these games, the team only played to 40 points. No game clock was in place. All-Star games occurred last night which started with Team Candace vs Team Shaq, with Team Shaq winning it 42-35. Team Shaq moved on to the final to await the winner of Team Kenny vs Team Chuck. Team Chuck took the win, 41-35. The final matchup of Team Shaq vs Team Chuck saw Shaq’s team win 41-25. Steph Curry was named the All-Star game MVP.
