Mitchell
The Kernel basketball teams will be reunited again tomorrow. All teams will be on the road facing Brandon Valley. Subvarsity games get rolling at 3:30pm & 4:45pm for boys and girls. Varsity girls will play at 6pm and the varsity boys will start at 7:30pm
Both Mitchell Marlins varsity hockey teams were in action yesterday and the girls rounded out their regular season. The girls took on the No. 1 team, Sioux Falls, and lost 5-0. Ending the regular season 11-10 overall. They will have their state tournament March 7-9. The boys took on Sioux Falls-East and fell, 7-2. They drop to 11-10 overall with one game left in the regular season, which they will play Saturday at home against the Aberdeen Cougars at 6pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
Tiger softball came away with a pair of wins this weekend in their doubleheader matchup with Ottawa. They took game one in a low scoring affair, 1-0. Runs got rolling in the second game and they won that one, 8-6. They improved to 11-3 overall and are on a seven-game winning streak.
The Tiger baseball team are still trying to find their footing to start the season. They had a doubleheader against Baker yesterday and came up short in both games. Losing the first game 8-0 and the second, 4-2. Starting the season 0-6 overall. They’ll get another chance for their first win today when they play Graceland in a doubleheader beginning at 10am. Both games will be played at Sauder Field in Baldwin City, KS.
The Tiger basketball teams get prepared now for the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament. Which will start with the Quarterfinal games on Wednesday. The No. 16 ranked Tiger women will enter as the two seed and will face the seven seed Doane Tigers at home in the World’s Only Corn Palace at 7pm. The men will enter as the five seed in the tournament and will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to face the four seed Morningside Mustangs at 7pm in the Rosen Verdoorn Sports Center.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s basketball team took on Kansas City yesterday in Brookings. They got past KC by a score of 70-65 and improved to 19-10 overall. Both Jackrabbit basketball teams will return to action on Thursday.
NBA
The NBA’s game slate for today will consist of eight games with just one on National TV. Four games at 6pm, including Los Angeles Clippers at the Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets at the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls at the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets at the Washington Wizards. At 6:30pm, it’ll be the Miami Heat at the Atlanta Hawks, then at 7pm it’s the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Oklahoma City Thunder on NBATV. Rounding it out will be the Portland Trail Blazers at the Utah Jazz at 8pm, followed by the Charlotte Hornets at the Sacramento Kings at 9pm.
