SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Sioux Falls School District is awarding its 2025 Dr. John W. Harris Teacher of the Year Award. Washington High School teacher Bruce Rekstad received the honor, along with a four-thousand-dollar cash prize. Rekstad has been teaching Native American history at Washington for more than 20 years. He originally got his start as a teacher on the Crow Creek Reservation.
