The Kernel basketball teams will host the SoDak 16 games at home this weekend in the World’s Only Corn Palace. The girls are the 6 seed and will play Friday against the 11 seed Brookings at 7pm. The boys will play on Saturday and their seeding & opponent is to be determined but will be calculated today.
Dakota Wesleyan
Tiger track & field’s Abby Magnuson has been named an All-American for DWU. At the National Championship competition, she finished sixth in shot-put, throwing 13.78 meters.
The Tiger wrestling teams have been busy as of late. The women just concluded their first ever Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament. They finished fifth with 26 total points and Doane claimed the women’s title with 187.5 points. Ashden Wenty earned sixth place in the 117lb class, Keera Lacock took third place in the 131lb class and Kaitlin Gay finished fifth in the 207lb class. DWU will wait to hear on Tuesday if any of their wrestlers have received an at-large bid to compete at the 3rd Annual NAIA Women’s National Championships, held March 5-6 in Park City, Kan. The men’s team is sending a couple of athletes to compete in the NAIA National Championships this Thursday. They’ll send Zack Zitek and Temuujin Mendbileg for competition.
The Tiger softball team will be playing ball again tomorrow on the road. They’ll travel to Tucson, AZ to play in the Tucson Invitational this Wednesday. They’ll be down there for nearly a week for a variety of games. The games tomorrow will be against Benedictine Mesa (AZ) in a doubleheader beginning at 6pm.
The Tiger baseball team will also travel to Tucson, AZ for the Tucson Invitational where their first games will be on Thursday against Bethany Lutheran. They’ll be gone for about a week as well competing in this Invitational.
The Tiger men and the women’s basketball teams await their seeding for the National Tournament. The Selection Show is scheduled for Thursday, March 6 at 6pm for the women & 7pm for the men. The National Tournament first and second rounds are to be played on March 14 & 15 at the host sites.
South Dakota State
The Jackrabbit men’s and women’s basketball teams will have Summit League Tournament action later this week. The women enter as the 1 seed and will face the winner of a matchup tomorrow between Omaha and Denver and the winner will be the 8 seed then will face the Jackrabbit women at about 2:30pm on Thursday, Mar. 6 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. The men enter as the 3 seed and will host 6 seed North Dakota on Friday, Mar. 7 at approximately 8:15pm.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be playing today when they host the Philadelphia 76ers at 7pm on NBA League Pass or your local channel. In the NBA, a pair of games are set to air on National TV as the Golden State Warriors travel to New York to face the Knicks at 6:30pm on TNT/TruTV/MAX. Followed by the Los Angeles Clippers at the Phoenix Suns at 9pm on TNT/TruTV/MAX.
