MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A local developer is trying to build a $20 million senior living facility north of Lake Mitchell, but he’s running into some roadblocks with the Mitchell Area Development Corporation (MADC). Justin Thiesse needs sewer infrastructure to make the project happen, but MADC hasn’t been able to offer him any financial support. The 25-acre development would reportedly include not only the senior living center but also apartments, a gas station, and other amenities, creating around 50 new jobs in Mitchell. The Mitchell Daily Republic reports that Thiesse is hoping the city will step up and help with the infrastructure, especially since he’s already helped bring businesses to Mitchell through Commerce Park, a development he did without tax incentives.
