The Mitchell varsity softball team took their first win of the season last night. The Lady Kernels took down Pierre by a score of 9-4. Matteah Graves drilled her first home run of the season and went 4-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Kernels. Next, Mitchell will play again tomorrow against Aberdeen Central.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger softball team saw action yesterday in Freemont, NE against Midland. It was a tough outing for the Tigers as they dropped both games. Losing Game 1, 6-2 and Game 2, 4-2. The Tigers will look to end their three-game losing skid on Saturday against Northwestern.
Tiger baseball will have a single game today on the road in Brookings. They’ll take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a non-conference game that will be played at Erv Huether Field beginning at 3pm.
The Tiger golf teams have completed competition in the DWU Spring Invite at Lakeview Golf Course after play over the last two days. The Tiger men and women finish atop all the competing teams with an eight over par score and a first-place finish for the men and an 81 over par score for the women. The men finish with some Tigers in the Top 10 after competition including Drew Norberg who tied for 10th at seven over par, Connor Calahan finished four over par and in fifth. While Peyton Bettcher came in second at one under par and DWU’s Dakota Munger led all golfers at two under par and in first place. The women had a trio of athletes in the Top 10 as Sara Sudenga & Ashton Austreim ended tied for seventh at 19 over par and Allison Meyerink came in tied for second with 17 over par.
MLB
The Minnesota Twins completed the second game of the series against the Kansas City Royals last night. The Royals edged out the Twins and won, 2-1. The Twins have the third game of this series tonight when they play at 6:40pm.
NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Milwaukee Bucks last night on the road. It was the Bucks who took the win by a score of 110-103. Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 25 points. Next the Timberwolves will play Memphis Grizzlies in Memphis tomorrow night.
