RAPID CITY, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A massive federal bill includes 40 million dollars to build a National Garden of American Heroes, and South Dakota leaders want it near Mount Rushmore. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act just barely passed in the House by a single vote. It includes plans to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a statue garden featuring 250 American heroes. Governor Larry Rhoden and Congressman Dusty Johnson have both asked President Trump to consider South Dakota for the site. The bill doesn’t name a location, and it still has to pass the Senate.
