Phillips got the news on Sunday at a private draft party with friends and family. The Roosevelt High School product pitched two seasons at Tennessee, helping the Volunteers win last year’s College World Series and starting in 17 games this season. Phillips, whose father Steve played and coached at the pro level, began his college career at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to Tennessee.
