MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Mitchell’s planning board is set to review multiple development requests, including a proposed childcare facility, a construction setback variance and a downtown plan review, according to the meeting agenda.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon with roll call, conflict-of-interest declarations and approval of the agenda. Commissioners will also consider approval of minutes from the Jan. 26, 2026, meeting and set the next meeting date for March 9, 2026.
A conditional use permit request from Sandbox Ventures LLC is on the agenda for a “childcare center, preschool, nursery” at 2100 N. Kimball St. The property is zoned R4 High Density Family Residential District and is legally described as Lots 8 and 9, Block 1 of Greenridge Addition.
Gold Key Properties LLC is seeking a variance for a front yard setback of 19 feet, compared to a 35-foot requirement, for an addition at 1408 W. Eighth Ave. The property is zoned TWC Transportation Warehousing and Commercial District and is legally described as Lot 2-A, Block 3 of Westwood First Addition.
Also listed is a plan approval request for 505 N. Main St., which is zoned in the Central Business District, and a plat request from Rodeo Blues LLC for Lots 1-3 in Tract 1 of Horseman’s Addition.
Public input is scheduled near the end of the meeting. Comments are limited to three minutes, and the agenda notes no action will be taken on items not listed.
