MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The City of Mitchell has announced its annual city-wide spring clean-up, scheduled for April 20 through April 24, 2026, offering residents an opportunity to dispose of large household items.
During the clean-up period, residents are encouraged to set oversized items out on their regular garbage day for curbside collection. A $10 curbside collection fee will apply.
City officials noted that several items will not be accepted during the event, including tires, tree branches, yard waste and construction debris.
In addition to curbside pickup, residents with pickup loads can take advantage of free landfill drop-off during the event.
Landfill hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 7 p.m. Saturday hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The annual clean-up is designed to help residents clear out unwanted items while keeping the community clean and organized heading into spring.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and follow guidelines to ensure a smooth and efficient clean-up process.
