MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Mitchell public works officials say cloudy tap water is not a health hazard.

On Wednesday afternoon, a post on the city website acknowledged that several residents had reported murky water coming out of their faucets. After testing, it was determined that the cloudiness is because of air bubbles due to elevated oxygen levels.

The city believes it was caused by a break in the B-Y Waterline that was recently fixed. If water is cloudy out of the tap, let the glass sit for a few minutes and it will clear on its own. The issue should resolve itself naturally in the coming days.
