MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — More details are emerging about what caused a driver to lose control of his Ford truck and crash into the Creekside Veterinary Clinic on Spruce Street in Mitchell.
The accident happened last Wednesday afternoon and the vehicle could be seen buried in the front of the building, just to the right of the main entrance for hours. Mitchell Police Lieutenant Casey Tegethoff says they were concerned about structural damage and felt it was best to leave the truck where it was until construction crews could rig a temporary support in place.
The driver had suffered a medical emergency and had to be immediately transported to the hospital for treatment, which occurred before Mitchell Now arrived on scene. Tegethoff says no one inside the vet clinic was injured due to the crash.
