MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help investigating the theft of equipment from a contractor’s locked, enclosed trailer near Alexandria.
Sometime between Aug. 5 and Aug. 7, someone forced entry into the trailer, which was parked and secured on the south side of Alexandria.
A John Deere Gator utility vehicle, 16-inch Husqvarna chop saw, Stihl chainsaw and 2,000-watt Predator generator were reported stolen.
The John Deere Gator was later recovered in a tree belt in southwestern Hanson County. The other stolen items remain missing.
Anyone with information about the theft, suspicious activity in the area during that time or other criminal activity is encouraged to contact Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers at 605-996-1700 during business hours. Callers may remain anonymous, and no caller ID is attached to the Crime Stoppers phone line.
