MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The City of Mitchell Street Department will conduct fog sealing work on several roads Friday, Aug. 21.

Residents along the affected streets are asked to have all vehicles removed from the roadway by 7 a.m. Each road will be closed to traffic for approximately two hours while crews complete the work.

Roads scheduled for fog sealing include:

  • 900-1500 blocks of Quince Avenue
  • 200-900 blocks of West Cedar Avenue
  • 300-1000 blocks of West Birch Avenue
  • 700-1100 block of Carl Road
  • West End Boat Dock
  • 1400-1500 blocks of Sawgrass Avenue
  • 407th Avenue from east of 407th Street to Jamaica Avenue
  • Canal Circle

The city is also asking residents in the affected areas to turn off automatic sprinkler systems and refrain from parking on the street until the work is completed.

Fog sealing is a pavement maintenance treatment used to help preserve road surfaces and extend pavement life.

The schedule is weather dependent. If inclement weather prevents crews from completing the work Friday, the fog sealing will be moved back one day.
