MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) Central Electric Cooperative is accepting applications for its Operation Round-Up grant program, which provides funding for projects benefiting communities throughout the cooperative’s service area.
Organizations may apply for grants of up to $3,000. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 1 to be considered during the upcoming grant cycle.
A volunteer board of trustees representing Central Electric’s service area awards Operation Round-Up grants twice each year. Since the program began in 2015, more than $260,000 has been awarded to support local projects.
Eligible applicants may include emergency services, municipalities, counties, schools, 4-H clubs, veterans organizations, community groups and certain nonprofit organizations.
Operation Round-Up is funded by Central Electric members who voluntarily round their monthly electric bills up to the next whole dollar. Those additional cents are pooled and distributed through grants to qualifying projects in communities served by the cooperative.
Applications can be completed online using a computer, tablet or cellphone.
