PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A 19-year-old Pierre native is seeking South Dakota’s top political seat. Dakota State University study Robert Arnold is running for governor. He needs to collect 1,231 signatures to qualify for the ballot. If that happens, he’ll become the youngest candidate for governor in U.S. history.  Since Arnold is Oglala Lakota and enrolled with the Pine Ridge Reservation, a win would also make him the first Native American governor in South Dakota history. He faces long odds but says he’s running as a commonsense, pro-community Democrat focused on affordable housing, safer communities, and fixing property taxes.
