Homicides saw a big jump, from 18 in 2023 to 31 in 2024. There was also a slight increase in DUI arrests and drug offenses, especially related to meth and fentanyl. On a positive note, juvenile arrests and burglary numbers both went down. The report highlights that overall, South Dakota is still a safe place to live.
