Those who would like to absentee vote in the June city and school board election will have to wait a few weeks. Davison County Auditor Sue Kiepke says absentee voting will begin on May 22nd and can be done through June 5th. Absentee voting will take place at the City Finance Office located in City Hall in downtown Mitchell. A driver’s license or other acceptable form of picture ID is needed to absentee vote. Kiepke says those wanting to absentee vote can also download a form from the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website and mail it in, but it must be received by June 6th.
Kiepke says it is not too late to register to vote in the June election. Those who wish to register to vote in the upcoming election can do so from now until May 22nd.
