MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Fourth-grade students from Mitchell and surrounding communities will get a closer look at agriculture during Ag in the Classroom on Tuesday, March 24, at the Davison County Fairgrounds.

The event is scheduled from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3200 W. Havens in Mitchell.

Ag in the Classroom gives students an opportunity to learn about farm animals including cows, horses, sheep, dogs and pigs. Students will also learn about soil, crops and the importance of safety around electricity and farm machinery.

The event is organized as part of the Mitchell Area Agri-Business Committee’s efforts to strengthen ties between agriculture and the local business community. The committee works to promote understanding of agriculture’s impact on Mitchell’s economy and to build stronger agriculture-business relationships.

Ag in the Classroom is one of several major events supported in partnership with the Agri-Business Committee, along with the Livestock/Commodities Seminar, DakotaFest and Ag Connections.
