Amateur baseball district tournaments continued over the weekend. In the District 5-B semi-finals last night Dimock-Emery upset No. 1-ranked Alexandria 2-0 as Phil Johnson threw a three hit shutout. Jed Schmidt pitched equally as well for the Angels but both runs for Dimock-Emery scored on errors. In the second game, Winner-Colome edged Platte 7-5. Dimock-Emery and Winner-Colome have both qualified for the state tournament and will play for the District title on Friday. Platte will now face Mount Vernon on Thursday night, and Alexandria will also play Thursday against the winner of the game between Parkston and Corsica-Stickney.
At the District 4-B tournament in Colman, the semifinals are set for Tuesday night as Canova will take on Flandreau at 6 p.m. followed by the Dell Rapids Mudcats against Dell Rapids PBR at 8 p.m.
In District 3-B the Plankinton Bankers punched their ticket to the state tourney by downing Colome 8-4. South Central joins Plankinton in the state tournament after beating No. 2 seed Kimball-White Lake 10-8.
