(MITCHELLNOW) Attorney General Marty Jackley is calling on the public to honor fallen law enforcement officers during the annual South Dakota Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony today in Pierre. The event begins with a 9:10 a.m. procession from the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Center to Capitol Lake, followed by a wreath laying at 9:30 and a memorial service at 10 a.m. at Lutheran Memorial Church. The ceremony pays tribute to officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and coincides with National Correctional Officers Week and the upcoming National Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15.
