PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Attorney General Marty Jackley’s proposals are getting a positive reception in the state legislature. This week, a legislative committee unanimously backed a bill aimed at strengthening internal controls to prevent fraud, similar to cases seen over the past year. VERBATIM: This time it gained not just the support of the State Auditor, but it also gained the support of the Governor, and so it’s going in the right direction, there’s more work to be done. Jackley is hopeful that these measures will stop fraud before it happens, rather than focusing on investigating and prosecuting cases down the line.
