Authorities in Mitchell and Davison County have been receiving complaints about two college students from Latvia who have been selling educational materials door-to-door. The two, Kristaps Rupmanis and Rudolfs Ozolins, did receive a peddler’s permit which allows them to sell their products from Southwestern Advantage in the city. Both the city and county have posted social media messages saying the pair is allowed to sell the materials. However, Mitchell Police Chief Mike Koster told the Mitchell City Council that complaints have been received about the two students’ behavior. The two students have allegedly been pushy and rude and have refused to leave private property when asked to do so. Koster says anyone who has issues with the pair should contact the Mitchell Police Department.
Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson says peddler’s permits will be for a shorter period of time in the future. The pair’s permit is valid through Monday, August 28th.
