SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The baby, named post mortem Gabriel, was found on top of a heap at a Sioux Falls recycling center on August 6th by workers at the facility, who then called the police. Since then, Sioux Falls police have been trying to determine the cause of Baby Gabriel’s death and who was responsible for it.
An autopsy on the full-term infant had now been completed and the results are in, Sioux Falls Police announced. However, they are not releasing details in the hope that will assist them in the pursuit of who left the child at the recycling center. It is still unclear if Baby Gabriel was already dead when abandoned at that recycling center or if the little guy was left there to die, alone and on his own.
The investigation into the death and the circumstances of the death of Baby Gabriel is ongoing. Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens estimates there are on average five “unattended” deaths of infants in the Sioux Falls area each year.
