Mitchell, S.D. (MITCHELL NOW) Two longtime Mitchell City Council members will run for re-election this June. Ward 3 Councilman Marty Barington and Ward 4 Councilman Jeff Smith have served since 2006. Their seats are up for grabs in June, as are the seats of Ward 1 Councilman Dan Sabers and Ward 2 Councilman Kevin McCardle. It is not known whether Sabers and McCardle plan to run for re-election. However, during a heated exchange with Mayor Bob Everson at last week’s Mitchell City Council meeting, McCardle hinted that he may run for the mayor’s seat, which is also up for election in June. Those seeking to run for Mitchell City Council or mayor can take out petitions on Friday from City Hall.  The city election is scheduled for June 4th.
