A barn located two miles east of Mitchell was destroyed in a fire that broke out late Tuesday afternoon. The building at 252nd Street and 415th Avenue housed several dozen sheep, which escaped. Firefighters were called to the scene at around 5 PM. When they arrived, the building was engulfed in flames. The fire quickly spread and started a grass fire, but crews had it contained within an hour. Due to the dry conditions, a burn ban was enacted in Davison County last week. Mitchell Fire, Alexandria Fire, Rosedale Fire, and the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office responded to yesterday’s fire.
