MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Sixteen candidates are running for seven seats on the new Davison-Hanson Ambulance District board, with voters heading to the polls on June 17th. Residents outside Mitchell city limits in both counties will vote for three local representatives and one at-large member. The new district was approved in April to keep emergency services running in rural areas, as Mitchell’s ambulance service struggles to cover calls beyond city limits. The district is expected to raise about $700,000 annually to fund staff and equipment. The new board is expected to meet for the first time on June 18th and must finalize the budget by June 30th.
