A bond modification request was denied for a Pierre man accused of leading law enforcement on a chase which began in Mitchell on Sunday afternoon. The incident began just after 3 PM when
a Highway Patrol trooper made a traffic enforcement stop on a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van at Minnesota and 2nd. The vehicle turned out to be stolen. The driver left the scene in the vehicle, and the pursuit then began. The vehicle exited the city and continued on country roads. Eventually, the van stopped west of town and it caught fire. 25-year old Julius Heath faces several charges. His attorney had requested a personal recognizance bond. That request was denied by Judge Donna Bucher. Heath also has charges pending against him in Minnehaha County.
