Charges are pending after an overnight rollover injury accident in Mitchell which closed part of Duff Street early this morning.
At around 2:45 AM, Mitchell police were called to a residence in the 200 block of West 15th Avenue where 21-year old Meaghan Carter of Pierre was reported lying in the apartment lobby. She left before officers arrived. Police tried to initiate a stop in the apartment parking lot, but Carter fled in a Pontiac Bonneville. A brief pursuit ensued south on Duff Street. As she approached 5th and Duff, Carter hit several parked vehicles on Duff Street between 4th and 5th Avenues, including a 2006 Chevy Malibu, a small trailer containing lawn mowing equipment, a 1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass, and a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. The Grand Caravan then hit a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo.
Carter suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Avera Queen of Peace.
