MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell Street Department will be continuing chip sealing work on Tuesday, and they will have an intersection on the city’s east side closed due to construction.

The crossing of East 6th Avenue and North Burr Street will be shut down, beginning at 8 a.m. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route. Capital Street, one block to the east, runs through the area, and avoids dead ending at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center.

Crews plan on chip sealing the following roads:

• 2200-2800 blocks of South Capital Street
• 2700 and 2800 blocks of South Winsor Court
• 2700 and 2800 blocks of South Mentzer Court
• 700-1100 blocks of Carl Road
• All roads inside the cemetery

Homeowners along the affected streets should have their cars moved into the driveway by 7 a.m. They are also encouraged to turn off their automatic sprinkler systems and pull back sump pump hoses from the gutter.
