City and school election set for today in Mitchell

Today is Election Day in the city of Mitchell.

In the Mitchell School Board race, incumbent Matthew Christiansen takes on challenger Deb Everson.

There are Mitchell City Council races in two wards. In Ward 3, Mike Bathke, Jason Bates, and Kimberly Lofgren are vying for the seat currently held by Dan Allen, who is not seeking re-election. In Ward 4, incumbent Susan Tjarks faces challenger Don Everson.

Mitchell voters will also vote on two issues. One issue would allow the city to sell parcels of land it owns around Lake Mitchell. The money would be used for Lake Mitchell improvement projects. The other issue is a $17 million school bond which would add athletic facilities to the new high school, which is currently being built.

All voters will vote at the Davison County Fairgrounds on West Havens Street. Voters need to bring a photo ID with them. Polls are open from 7 AM until 7 PM.
