Clarence died Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 16, at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Dimock. Burial will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Clarence Herman Moke was born on June 19, 1928, in Douglas County, South Dakota to Herman and Amalia (Goldammer) Moke. Clarence was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church (Hillside) where he was a lifelong member. He loved his church and his church family.
On February 18, 1962, Clarence was united in marriage to Marjean Bartelt at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together they farmed in the Hillside area. They moved to Parkston in May of 1991. Clarence continued to farm with his son. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, polka music, playing cards, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Clarence lived a life of service, including serving on the St. John’s Church Council, church committees, and the Washington Township Board.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjean Moke of Parkston; children, Renee (John) Engelland of Armour, Glen (Juli) Moke of Corsica, and Diane (Mike) Laycock of Brandon, SD; grandchildren, Craig (Kelly) Engelland of Mitchell, John R. (Taylor Walz) Engelland of Mitchell, Matthew (Hailey Walz) Engelland of Mitchell, Brady (Laura) Moke of Corsica, Brittni Moke of Ankeny, IA, Blake (Callie Hohn) Moke of Corsica, Andrew (Brooke) Laycock of Sioux Falls, Luke (Kayla) Laycock of Sioux Falls, and Noah (Amber Thompson) Laycock of Brandon; great-grandchildren, Reed, Berkeley, Reagan, Abigail, Tana, Raiden, Jaxson, and Chase; brother-in-law, Werner Bartelt; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Moke, Ruth Neugebauer, Hertha Kornkven, and Myra Bartelt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Amalia Moke; brothers, Otto, Leonard, and Norbert Moke; sisters, Selma Jendersee, Minnie Titze, twins Alma Jendersee, and Alvina Titze.
