MITCHELL S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) This year’s Corn Palace Festival will begin on Wednesday August 21 and end on Sunday August 25. In addition to the usual midway and other attractions on Main Street, the festival will kick off with a free concert by the Brandon Jones Band at the Corn Palace Plaza on Wednesday evening of August 21.
Thursday will feature a free concert by Lance and Lea at the Corn Palace Plaza before the paid concert in the Corn Palace. Thursday evening, August 22, Rapid City native Rowan Grace will be the opening act for country singer Scotty McCreery.
Friday will be a “Battle of the Bands”, the number and identify of the bands have yet to be determined. If you have a suggestion for inclusion of your favorite band, contact Corn Palace Director Doug Greenway at 605-995-8430.
Saturday, August 24, will find a rock show gracing the stage of the Corn Palace. The opening act will be Saul, a Christian rock band. The main event will be Skillet. Skillet rose to fame as a Christian rock band, but their show will consist of secular music.
Tickets for all shows are available at cornpalace.com, in order to avoid internet and additional ticketing fees, tickets are available in person at the Corn Palace box office 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
The festival will conclude on Sunday August 25, 2024.
