Residents of Minnehaha County could soon see a rise in costs at the DMV, as County Highway Superintendent Jacob Maras recommends the first wheel tax increase in 30 years.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) You may soon be paying more to fund road projects if you live in Minnehaha County. County Highway Superintendent Jacob Maras (MAHR-us) is recommending the first increase in the county wheel tax in 30 years. Maras says a lot has changed in that time. (:14) The proposed increase would cost an extra four dollars per passenger vehicle, and up to an extra 46-dollars for heavier commercial vehicles. Mitchell Plans Second Fire Station to Speed Up Response Times

Mitchell city officials are proposing a $2.5 million fire station on the north side of town to improve emergency response times and reduce insurance costs for residents.
