The Mitchell School District continues to see a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Mitchell Middle School reports 18 active cases this week, while Mitchell High School and L.B. Williams Elementary each report 7 active cases. Longfellow Elementary has 2 active cases, while Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary reports just 1 active case.
It is not clear what the reason is for the recent spike, which has occurred over the past two weeks. Superintendent Dr. Joe Graves says the Mitchell numbers seem to mirror similar increases in other parts of the state at this time.
A majority of Mitchell School District employees have completed their full vaccination regimen according to Graves.
