After two weeks, the DWU defense has yet to surrender a touchdown. The Tigers defeated Mount Marty in the Yankton-college’s first-ever football game 20-3 on Saturday.
DWU gained 440 yards of total offense — led by 191-yards rushing and 31-yards receiving by Jamin Arend. DWU struck first with 9:02 left in the 1st quarter on a 31-yard pass from Kiel Nelson to Haustyn Forney.
Nelson and backup Austin Lee split time at quarterback throughout the game — and Lee threw for a 70-yard touchdown to Jakob Oxos to put DWU up 13-3 with 2:45 left in the 2nd quarter.
DWU’s final touchdown came with 1:54 left in the 4th quarter on an 83-yard run by Arend.
The Tigers have a bye week next week and will next be in action on on the road against Midland at 1 p.m. on Sept. 18.
